Having a memento of your pregnancy and baby-bump is so important to many mums-to-be, including me. Of course we all take bump-selfies (or "bumpies") throughout our pregnancy to track our ever-increasing tummy, but sometimes it's nice to have some professional shots taken too. If you're nifty with a camera and have a decent one (or are super with your mobile phone), get yourself into some good natural light (by a large window is often the best), pop your camera on a tripod and get snapping. Or, like me, nag your other-half into taking some of you instead.  (more…)

Antenatal Appointment – Weeks 25 & 28
May 28, 2015 at 9:37 am 0
Once you've had your initial antenatal appointments and the excitement of the 20-week scan, it seems a while until you get to meet your baby again. In fact, in the UK, most couples' next appointment with the midwife or GP will be at 25 weeks pregnant. (more…)

What to pack in your Hospital Bag

So at 29 weeks + 4, I'm starting to think about the whole labour part of pregnancy - kind of forgot that was a necessity to get the baby into this world (eek!). So naturally when thinking of labour, you naturally start to consider what to pack in your hospital bag. There's lots of lists online, which I've taken note from and have compiled my own here: (more…)

The Tree of Life – Merci Maman Jewellery
May 22, 2015 at 9:53 am 5
When I stumbled across Merci Maman Boutique, I instantly fell in love with its charm and delicate selection of jewellery. For any mum-to-be, mother or grandmother, the selection of jewellery can be personalised and makes the ideal gift and keepsake. I believe none other than the Royal Duchess of Cambridge herself has been seen wearing one of the wonderful collection. So I knew I was in good company when I placed my order for the Tree of Life Chain Bracelet. I am in love with rose gold at the moment and don't currently own anything in the colour, so knew straight away that that was what I wanted. My favourite thing about the Merci Maman Boutique, is that everything can be personalised and engraved with a personal message or names.  (more…)

The size of a Papaya

Weeks 24 to 28 of pregnancy has been a mixed bag really. It's generally been fine but but I'm definitely starting to feel pregnant! I'm super excited now and can't wait to meet our little one and have about 3 months to go. My bump is growing, though I do seem to be smaller than some other mums-to-be and I've still only put on a few pounds, but I guess everyone is different. I just hope the little one is growing ok! I'll be sure to ask the midwife as I'll be measured this week for the first time so hopefully they'll give me some guidance. (more…)

My Nursery Wish List – Minted
May 3, 2015 at 7:03 pm 0
So I'm definitely getting into that nesting phase of the pregnancy and want to get started on the nursery! While looking for inspiration online, I stumbled across an awesome site - Minted.com. I actually found Minted when I was looking at baby shower invitations, but quickly realised they don't just do stationery - they also do home decor and more importantly, decor for the nursery! We're not quite ready to redecorate just yet (have got a couple more weeks to go), so in the meantime, I've created a wish list of things I'd like from Minted if I could have whatever I wanted... How do you like your eggplant in the morning?
April 15, 2015 at 7:34 pm 0
I was lucky enough to be on holiday during weeks 22-23 of my pregnancy, which turned out to be much needed rest and relaxation! My bump had a bit of a growth spurt and generally seems more rounded and full. People are definitely noticing now. It's a nice feeling to have a proper bump. The baby must be moving around a lot and my belly is fuller some days, so I guess this is due to the positioning of the little one.  (more…)

It’s a Pomegranate!

It’s a Pomegranate!
April 5, 2015 at 5:29 pm 0
Well this fortnight I've noticed that I'm energetic in the mornings, but struggling with long days and knackered in the afternoons. During weeks 20-21 of my pregnancy, I've also noticed that I'm tossing and turning more in my sleep, so presuming I'm not as comfortable. I occasionally get slight stiffness or cramp in my hips, so have to keep moving and my pregnancy pillow is really coming in useful. I also find that sometimes, subconsciously, I go to stretch out in my sleep and when I do, my tummy cramps a bit so I have to stop myself. I'm guessing this is because the muscles are stretching etc, but it's annoying when I'm half asleep and just fancy a good stretch! (more…)

Questions to ask your Midwife
April 4, 2015 at 9:07 am 0
When you find out your pregnant, your mind will be overrun with questions. I know mine was! But it's important to make sure you feel relaxed and knowledgable about what is happening to you and what is going to happen to you, through this amazing process. So don't be afraid to ask questions! Write them down if you need to, so you remember to ask your midwife or GP. (more…)
