I've started to notice some significant growth in the little bump area this last 2 weeks - which I'm super happy and relieved about. I had started to feel like nothing much was happening or changing and was even a little bit envious of other mums-to-be at this stage who seemed to have bigger bumps then me (silly I know!).  (more…)

This week has been a bit of a non-event really. I haven't really been feeling any different and there's not been much change in my body - in general, everything seems to have settled down. (more…)

Week 13 came with more energy, more hunger and a growing tummy! I needed to be on my feet a lot this week, travelling up and down the country for work and although I was feeling more energised and not quite as exhausted, I was aching a lot and feeling the effects of longer days on my feet. I realised I need to break up weeks like this and make sure I get enough rest whenever I could. The pregnancy chair at work was helping when I was in the office. (more…)

Week 12 was my favourite week so far in my pregnancy, mainly because we'd had our first scan so I was able to relax and I felt like we'd reached our first proper milestone. We were entering the second trimester...ooooh... I was starting to feel more human again. My energy levels were slowly increasing and I wasn't needing to sleep as soon as I got home from work anymore. Naps on weekends reduced too. My appetite was starting to return and as long as I ate regularly, the sickness seemed to be at bay. I was eating larger portions now too and finishing my plate of food for the first time in weeks. Continuing the reflections on my pregnancy, here is how weeks 10-12 were for me (you can read about the other weeks too)... Week 10 and I was back at work after a bit of a break over Christmas and the New Year. Only close family knew, so no one at work was aware. I was still really tired and sleeping loads at night with absolutely zero energy to do anything or to go out anywhere. (more…)

Continuing in the series about my pregnancy, here's my reflections on Weeks 8-10 (you can read about my other weeks too)... Weeks 8-10 fell over the Christmas period for me. Which in some ways was brilliant, but in others was blimmin' difficult! It was nice to have a break from work for a bit as it was getting harder to disguise my nausea and exhaustion, and it meant that I could get plenty of rest and sleep. But it also meant we were visiting lots of family and being offered lots of food...and drink! Namely booze! (more…)

As Dribble is all about sharing our experiences of pregnancy and parenthood, I wanted to start this series about my pregnancy and how I'm feeling. It's not only a nice way for me to document this special time, but also perhaps it'll put some other mums-to-be's minds at ease and assure you that you're not the only one going through these changes and feelings. So I'm reflecting back on Weeks 6-8 of my pregnancy... (more…)

First trimester – morning sickness – my experience

I hear that some ladies are lucky enough not to experience nausea during their pregnancy. However I'm sure that the majority (including me), do! My personal experience was nausea from about Week 7 through to Week 12. And it certainly isn't "morning sickness", it's "all day every day, hit you any time anywhere sickness". I had an almost constant feeling of wishy-washy nausea, but never actually threw up. I guess I was lucky, as I know a lot of women vomit a lot, causing dehydration and weight-loss. I however, just constantly felt off colour, for about 80% of the time that I was awake, occasionally wretched here and there, but never vomited. (more…)
