Now I’m past the 5 month mark, I’ve started to shop for bits, picking up bargains as and when I see them. I don’t want to get everything right away and have nothing to enjoy over the next 4 months, but I also don’t want to be in a mad rush on maternity leave trying to get things.
I thought it makes sense to pick things up when they’re on sale or special deal etc. And that’s what I did with the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Essentials Starter Kit. I bought ours from Mothercare, when I spotted that they had a really great deal on – reduced from £150 to £65!! That’s a saving of 85 quid!
To be honest, I had no idea what it was and whether I needed everything in there, so I asked a helpful sales rep in Mothercare, who talked me through it and how it compared to others on the market. She said it was one of the better value offerings and a very popular brand…and all bits that I’d need.
It doesn’t include a manual breast-pump, which some other brand starter kits do, but I was assured that I probably would prefer an electric breast-pump anyway. This one does however include thermal travel bags, which apparently come in very handy when feeding on the move.
So here’s what it includes:
- Electric Steam Steriliser
- Bottle Warmer
- 4x 260ml bottles
- 4x 150ml bottles
- 2x thermal travel bags
- 2x medium flow teats
- 6x milk powder dispensers
- 1x bottle brush
- 1 pair of teat tongs
- 1 pure newborn soother
And apparently this is everything you need to get you started with bottle feeding your baby! Eek!
I like that it’s a pack and takes the thought out of buying everything individually, as it’s all a bit overwhelming when you see the shop shelves stacked full of bottles, brushes and sterilisers. So this one’s going straight into the wardrobe, to be pulled out in preparation nearer the time.
I’ll be reviewing it fully eventually and will take product shots of everything it contains.
Have you bought any starter kits like this?
